- Carson, Lisa M.

Lisa Carson is a 1991 honors graduate of
Vanderbilt University School of Law where she was a member of the
Moot Court Board, the Order of the Coif and was the recipient of the
prestigious Founder’s Medal. She joined the firm as a clerk in 1988,
became an associate in 1991 and became a partner in 1996. Lisa splits
her practice between health care operations law and defense litigation.
She has represented providers in matters concerning peer review, EMTALA,
hospital and medical staff bylaws, medical malpractice and credentialing
of physicians. She handles a variety of litigation for municipal and
other clients, including tort defense, constitutional claims, and
employment. As an employment litigator, she has provided legal defense
for clients in race, sex, age and disability discrimination actions,
harassment cases and retaliatory discharge matters. Community involvement
is very important to Lisa.
She serves on the
Building Committee for her church, is
an active member of Rotary and is a member of the Board of Directors
of the Williamson County Boys and Girls Club.
Lisa
has mentored aspiring young lawyers by coaching the Franklin High
School Mock Trial Team for a number of years. She has been an instructor of Business Law and an adjunct professor
of Health Care Management at Belmont University. Lisa is presently
a member of the Williamson County Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar
Association, the American Bar Association litigation section and the
Tennessee County Attorneys’ Association.
- Cook, Robert R.

Robert R. Cook is a 2001 graduate of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in
Lansing, Michigan and a political science major at Eastern New Mexico
University. Robert served honorably in the United States Air Force from
1991 to 1997 where he served in the Middle East during Operation Desert
Focus/Operation Southern Watch in 1996. In 2001 he moved to Nashville
and became an associate at Baydoun & Reese where he worked in the areas
of contract and business law. He was hired as an associate at Buerger,
Moseley & Carson in 2002 and became a partner in 2008. Robert currently
represents Williamson County as the lead attorney on matters pertaining
to contracts, highway issues, information management systems, state
legislation, and government operations. He has represented the Tennessee
County Services Association on telecommunication legislation and was
chosen to serve on the Telecommunication Technologies Board. Robert's
involvement in the community includes serving on the Vintage Affair
Board and member of the Franklin Lions Club. Robert has been a member of
the Tennessee County Attorneys Association Board of Directors since 2003
and has served as both Vice President and President for the association.
Robert is also a member of the Williamson County Bar Association, the Tennessee
Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Lloyd, Travis G.

Travis G. Lloyd graduated cum laude from Davidson College in 2005, where he
was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree, magna cum
laude, from Georgia State University College of Law in 2008. Travis also
holds a master’s degree in public health from Harvard University, where
his work centered on health law and policy. While in law school, Travis
served as an extern to Justice P. Harris Hines of the Supreme Court of
Georgia and as a research assistant to several law professors. In
addition, he earned honors as a member of the Jessup International Moot
Court team and as an entrant in the ASCAP Nathan Burkan Memorial Essay
Competition. Travis was hired by the firm as an associate in 2009
and focuses his practice primarily in the area of health care operations
law. Travis is currently a member of the American Bar Association, the Tennessee
Bar Association,
and Williamson County Bar Association.

Moseley, Jeffrey D.

Jeffrey D. Moseley is a 1986 graduate of Vanderbilt Law School.
He became an Associate at Buerger, Moseley & Carson in 1987, partner
in 1990 and senior partner in 2002 upon the retirement of founder
Richard Buerger. Jeff’s practice is focused in the area
of health care law. He represents hospitals throughout the United
States in relation to medical staff issues, including peer review
and credentialing, board and medical staff bylaws, operational issues,
EMTALA and contract matters. His practice also extends to corporate
and municipal law. His published works include Safe Harbor:
Changing the Practitioner/Facility Paradigm in 1992, Nashville
Medical News, 1992 and Safe Ventures Doctors Take Money Out
of Equation, Modern Healthcare Magazine, 1993. Currently,
Jeff is a member of the American, Tennessee, and Williamson County
Bar Associations as well as the Tennessee County Attorneys Association
and the American Health Lawyers Association. He has taught seminars
and classes in the health care field including: “Governmental
Hospitals: What they Can and Can’t Do in Today’s Changing
Health Care Environment”, "The Poliner Case: Implications for
Hospitals and Medical Staff Members" sponsored by the American Health
Lawyers Associates, and Health Care Management and the
Law at Belmont University. Jeff and his family have
made their home in Williamson County for 20 years.
- Simonton, W. Kyle

W. Kyle Simonton is a 2007 graduate of Southern Illinois University
School of Law where he was a member of the National Scholars Honor
Society and was a student contributor and editor for the Journal of
Legal Medicine and Legal Medicine Perspectives. His published works
include Problems with the Accommodations Granted to the Disabled
During the Administration of the MCAT: Individual State Interests
Versus National Uniformity, 27 J. Legal Med. 305 (2006), and Daubert
and the Standard of Care, Legal Medicine Perspectives, American
College of Legal Medicine (May/June 2006). Kyle was hired by the
firm as an associate in 2007 and focuses his practice primarily on
the area of health care law. He
represents hospitals throughout the United States in matters
concerning peer review, credentialing, HIPAA, EMTALA, Joint
Commission accreditation, board and medical staff bylaws,
Anti-Kickback Statute/Stark compliance and various contractual
issues. Recently, he was awarded with the American College of Legal
Medicine's Letourneau Award for outstanding original commentary in
legal medicine. Kyle is currently a member of the American Bar
Association, the American Bar Association Health Law Section, the
Tennessee Bar Association, the Williamson County Bar Association,
the American College of Legal Medicine and the American College of
Healthcare Executives.
- Thompson, Lee Ann

Lee Ann Thompson graduated with honors in 2006 from the University
of Tennessee, obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration. Lee Ann received her law degree in 2009 from the
Vanderbilt University School of Law, where she was an associate
justice of the Moot Court Board and an editor of the Journal of
Entertainment and Technology Law. Lee Ann was hired by the firm as
an associate in 2009 and is currently a member of the American Bar
Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, and the Williamson
County Bar Association. Lee Ann will focus her practice primarily in
the area of litigation, defending clients in the areas of contract,
tort, employment and Constitutional law.
- Young, Kenneth J.

Kenneth J. Young is a
life-long resident of Franklin. While in high school, Ken joined the
firm as a courier, then worked as a full time law clerk until graduating
from Nashville School of Law in 2001. He holds a BBA degree from the
University of Mississippi, with a double major in Banking and Managerial
Finance. Ken concentrates his practice in governmental, business
transactions, corporate formation and governance, and
non-profit/tax-exempt entities. He is an active member of the
Williamson County Foster Care Review Board, served on the Board of
Directors for the Williamson County Chapter of the American Red Cross
(2003-2008), is a member of the American, Tennessee and Williamson
County Bar Associations, and the Williamson County Chamber of Commerce.
Ken is also a member of the Tennessee Emergency Numbering Association
and National Emergency Numbering Association. In 2009 he was presented
the Volunteer Service Award by Franklin Tomorrow. He is an avid
tri-athlete and soccer player. He lives in Franklin with his wife and
two children.
